Tuesday

This morning half our group headed off for the community center and the rest of the group went to a local supermarket armed with brownies several of our youth had made the night before. The goal was to engage in a bit of servanthood evangelism and wash cars while sharing about Christ and the activities at the community center. However it was quite cold this morning, so we pushed the car wash until later in the week, delivered the brownies intended for the car wash to the local fire department and police station, and both groups worked at the center this morning.

The community center maintains a local garden in Helena. Today several of our youth worked in the garden planting vegetables, weeding, and painting a fence around the garden. The community center grows vegetables to give to local residents but also offers free use of raised beds to the residents of Helena, helping them plant and raise a vegetable garden of their own.

The Bookshelf Buddies participants were painting their bookshelves today. Helping young children with short attention spans paint an entire bookshelf was quite a feat! The youth have really given themselves to their relationships with these children, and this one on one time with the kids is invaluable. You can tell the children thrive on the attention and open up in conversation with the youth.

Some of the other things we were involved with today were multiple craft projects, LOTS of basketball and other sports ministry, painting a bathroom at the center, and more mural painting on the flower beds. The youth come in every afternoon tired but wired from the experiences of the day, and as we unpack the days' events at night it is evident that God is continually at work.

Blessings,

Amy
