Saturday & Sunday
After a long day of travel Saturday, sightseeing both the Statue of Liberty and the Mississippi River on our way to Arkansas, we arrived safely and finally got some much needed SLEEP Saturday night. My apologies for the delay in the call chain...between pregnancy brain and exhaustion I completely forgot to call Donna!
Today we celebrated Easter with two different church families. Our host church, Delta Fellowship Church, welcomed us for Sunday School and then we worshipped with a sister church in Helena, New Light Baptist Church. The worship service was lively and full of blessing, we stayed for the children's Easter program immediately after the main worship service which was a true blessing.
This afternoon we have rested well and spent time preparing for tomorrow's ministry opportunities. Tomorrow our group will divide into 2 groups and do gardening at a local park, pass out cookies and visit door to door in the community inviting people to the week's activities, paint murals and flower boxes, spend the afternoon doing sports ministry, partner with children for the Bookshelf Buddies literacy program, have craft activities and games at the community center, and offer a community movie for the local children.
Continue to pray for our group! We have a full week planned with many opportunities for the youth to interact with the community. Thanks for partnering with Helena for a great week!
